Working for Windows Report

I have worked for Windows Report, a B2C company focusing on delivering newscontent for tech-savvy people who are looking forward to the newest trends in the industry. Although they mainly write about Microsoft’s operating system, they do cover lots of other subjects as well.

I was pretty much a multi-tasker in the company. I was not simply an editor or content writer, instead, I tried to branch out to other areas and departments in the company, such as SEO optimization and research, affiliate, sales, and social media presence. I’d like to add that I also gained HTML knowledge thanks to working with the WordPress text editor (a.k.a HTML editor).

My main job involved writing new content, which included different types of articles.

Product lists - contain software or hardware recommendations for users who are planning to buy an item from that category.
How-to/Fix - troubleshooting guides that help users solve certain problems. They contain steps, multiple solutions, and images to showcase and help the users apply our methods.
Reviews - lengthy articles that focus on a single product. The software/hardware was tested and all the information came from our experience with the product.

Besides all the articles I wrote from scratch, I also edited and posted plenty on a daily basis. The changes ranged from slight adjustments to complete overhauls.

The editing process included checking the relevancy of the article’s content, the keywords, interlinking, SEO optimization, and the relevance of the items/solutions included in it.

I was also in charge of the company’s social media content. I posted on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter by using Buffer. I usually picked the juiciest articles and turned them into interesting posts.

Lastly, I was in charge of the company’s bi-weekly newsletter. Twice a week, I would pick the hottest articles and send them to our subscribers. I created, modified, and sent the emails.
